The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing services to medically fragile students and other duties as assigned under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Duties are to be performed in accordance with the standards of professional school nurse practice, district/state, board of education policies and procedures and the State of Illinois Nurse Practice Act.

  1.     The LPN provides direct health services to students. 
  2.     The LPN monitors and provides appropriate care to medically students to and from      school and throughout the school day.
  3.     The LPN maintains a safe and healthy environment for all students.
  4.     The LPN maintains health records in accordance the Illinois Public School records        policy
  5.     The LPN records progress and maintenance of care the assigned students and              submits this data electronically daily
  6.     The LPN works cooperatively with all school personnel.
  7.     The LPN performs other duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse
  8.     The LPN assist in the state mandated physicals and immunizations
  9.     The LPN will assist in attending to sick students and adults making decisions on          their care and treatment, administering first aid, taking appropriate action,                  documenting/writing nursing notes and incident forms.
  10.     The LPN will attend to the chronically ill as well as more acute situations at school        as needed.
  11.     The LPN will work with the school nurse on interpreting the health status of                students to parents and school personnel as needed
  12.     The LPN will be responsible for record keeping and clerical work as needed to              maintain student records and other school documents.
  13.     The LPN may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the RN or school          administrators.
  14.     The LPN will assist in medical issues and emergencies in all buildings across the          district.

Compensation Range: $32-$36 per hour.
