Momence Junior High School is searching for a 6th Grade ELA Long Term Sub to join our team.

Purpose:

This teacher is responsible for overseeing the Junior High School ELA curriculum and course sequence plan for all students in grade 6.  

Qualifications:

  • A valid and current Illinois State PEL in High School or an Illinois Substitute license or the ability to obtain one. 
  • Able to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Teach 6 sections of ELA to varying levels of students.
  • Attends professional development and training related to teaching assignments, staying abreast of current research. 
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning. 
  • Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration. 
  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. 
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. 
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement. 
  • Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process. 
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis
  • Organizes, develops, and coordinates special events/activities.
  • Keeps accurate records and delivers timely reports as required.
  • Participates in student team meetings as needed.  Participates in collaborative teacher/staff meetings as required.
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating, etc
  • All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning
  • Follows the District’s job description for teachers.
  • Perform other duties and takes-on responsibilities as assigned by district and/or building administration.
