Applicant must be willing to:
- Serve as a liaison and resource to the students, faculty and community on health related issues.
- Implement the health regulations, policies and procedures of the school district, Department of Public Health and Department of Education.
- Review student immunization records prior to admission to school.
- Develop and implement individual nursing care plans for students.
- Excuse pupils from required physical education classes with medical or parental permission.
- Prepare a confidential list of students with medical concerns at the beginning of each academic year and updates it as needed and shares this with appropriate school personnel.
- Administer prescribed medication to students according to policy
- Perform skilled nursing procedures in a safe, competent and effective manner.
- Participate in and presents findings, nursing guide lines and recommendations at team meetings.
- Instruct students in healthy lifestyles and first aid.
- Provide resources to students, family and faculty for school safety and environmental health issues.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Travel between buildings required and support in other buildings may be needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and licensed as a registered nurse in Illinois; Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with School Nurse endorsement (preferred) |
