CUSTODIAN Job Title: PM Custodian

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma
2. Experience and proficiency in custodial skills.
3. Knowledge of custodial procedures related to custodial duties and operation of custodial equipment.
4. Good communication skills.
REPORTS TO: Head Custodian or Building Principal
POSITION GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
2. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
3. Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
4. Assume responsibility for opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving that all doors and windows are secured and all lights, except those left on for security and safety reasons are turned off.
5. Keep an inventory of supplies, equipment and requisitions such needed replacements from the principal far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian in his duties.
6. Scrub, hose down, and disinfect toilet and floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
7. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
8. Raise the United States flag at or before 8 a.m. on each school day, and lower it at or after 3:30 p.m. unless the flag pole is lighted at night.
9. Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture.
10. Clean corridors during the school each day and after school and keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.

12. Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required by various activities and as directed by the principal.
13. Comply with all local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.
14. Makes such minor building repairs as he/she is capable.
15. Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
16. Report immediately to the Principal any damage to school property.
17. Perform summer maintenance and cleaning.
18. Interact appropriately with students, staff and the public.
19. Perform routine maintenance in accordance with the OSHA guidelines.
20. Report mechanical, electrical, plumbing or structural problems to maintenance, custodial supervisor or Building Principal immediately.
21. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
22. Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installation in the school to insure their safe conditions.
23. Help to insure school property is free of all-hazardous materials and debris.
24. Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport/ activity conducted at all times students are present.
25. Attend training and/or certification classes as needed.
26. Perform other duties and working hours as may be assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: As per salary statement.
